S.D.B. Priority Guidance

Below, we have a brief outline of a priority list for your consideration. While your specific situation may call for further refinement or adjustment, we believe this list can apply broadly to most teachers.

An important thing to remember is that we are NOT advocating for you to refuse to do anything on the priority list. You still have an obligation to do all that is under our contract. That said, we recognize and we would like the BOE to recognize that under current conditions and time constraints, it will not be possible to meet all of our obligations in a timely manner.

Daily Priority List

The following list has the highest priority items at the top of the list. This list does not take into account extra duties or events.

Direct Instruction

This is the heart of what we do, and should take priority, obviously.

Special-Ed Documentation

There are federal and state statutes that require these to be completed in a timely manner.

Lesson Plans

As educators we obviously know the importance of solid lesson plans, but admin cannot request these in advance unless you are under a plan of assistance.


There are different requirements depending on your assignment, but generally this isn't something you need to update daily or even weekly.


Many of you likely already have these done. It's also worth noting that your administrator cannot require you to create 1-2 weeks of sub-plans unless they give you time during your contract hours to work on them.

Administrative Work

WIGs, emails, and all of the other plethora of requirements that come down the chain are generally lower on the priority list BUT if your administrator gives you a clear directive, do not be non-compliant.
